Practice

Race 10 was just 20 miles west of the GNCC race I rode not more that 3 weeks earlier, so I was already used to the soft sugar sand and roots.

The course was awesome .It was wide open in places and very dust and dry, there was a great "Enduro Cross: section that was fun to go through.

There were a lot of nasty tree roots, that you could hit or miss depending on which lines you took round the corners.

I set off on my practice lap at 8.30am and after a few miles my CR 250 Honda started running very oddly.

It felt like the throttle was stuck or there was some kind of air leak in the intake causing it to over run making it difficult to ride.

I got back to the pits and immediately stripped down the carb, intake and throttle assembly. The float bowl was full of debris.

I cleaned out what I could and put everything back together getting down on the start line just in time for my 10.30 race.

Zack holds by bike ready for the start.

I get a pretty good start.

The Race

I got a reasonable start and for a mile or so my bike ran great, then it started to over-run and repeat the earlier problems.

I pulled over and let the other riders by and tried to at least just keep going and gain some points. The bike was running very lean and very hot.

I guessed my problem was not going to get better so I cruised around and tried not to stress the engine as it sounded terrible.

Boring cruise mode, laps one and two.

Lets have some fun mode lap 3

The Enduro-Cross section

A LOT of riders had problems on this man made section consisting  of some 4ft dump truck tires, 12inch PVC pipes and sugar sand.

I loved it, even though I landed on my my old Master B riding colleague Steve Krutsinger (sorry).

Over the tires

looking good

This was the first lap....

second lap, easy.

Even though I had bike problems I still somehow managed to get 6th place.

My buddy Robin Frey was DQ,d for missing some double greens so that helped me move up a spot.

I got back home and stripped down the carb, it was full of dust and the pilot jet was completely blocked solid with debris,

I`m hoping that's all it was and installed a new in line fuel filter just in case.

Fingers crossed for next week....
