Race 12....its nearly over!

"Semper Fi At The Glen"

Race Report

I drove up to the track early Sunday morning and somewhere took a wrong turn, I arrived 4 hrs later tired and worn out from the drive.

Practice was late as there was a heavy fog that was blocking most of the track, I got lucky!

I went out on my practice lap of what was a really well laid out course.

The organizers had laid out a really cool Enduro Cross section that catching out a lot of riders.

I pulled over and watched as riders went down trying to clear the water hole.

I pulled back onto the track and cleared all the obstacles with ease, nice!

speed is the key....

My buddy Eric didn't quite have the speed

The was a 1.5 mile stretch of soft whooped out  sugar sand that was very tiring to ride.

I came back from practice very happy with the course.

5th place start.

I got a great start and being up the front helped me gap the riders behind me.

I was really hauling and felt like I could ride this pace all day.

I pulled past a couple of riders and was up to 2nd, as I entered a tight tree section I went down hard.

I had caught a vine that got wrapped around my handlebars and drove me into the ground.

As I remounted and pushed the vine aside another rider got caught in it and took me down with him,.

T add insult to injury (pun intended) another rider got caught up and the three of us were laying there unable to get up.

Another rider came by and assisted us, my race was shot and I parked my bike and tore down the vine in frustration.

I got going again but could not match my earlier pace, I completed 4 laps but timed out and only 3 counted.

Soft sugar sand of Florida.

As I came in to the last Enduro Cross section my buddy and rival Mike Oestrike was right next to me, he had run the easy section and I had cought him back up.

We saw each other and made one last attempt to beat each other to the finish line some 1/2 mile away, he beat me, my 250 didnt have the ponies to go throught he sand and neither did I.

He collapsed after the finish and somehow managed a hand shake with me.
