Race 7 Report Page

Race 7  in Brighton, FL was only a short 2hr drive for us so we set off early Sunday and got there around 7am.

Practice

I set off on my practice lap, It took forever to get round the long twisty course the Treasure Coast Trail Riders had set out.

Most of the course was narrow with limited passing areas, there were huge open areas with long straights and wide open corners.

On all the open sections my bike was in top gear pretty quickly and screaming out for another gear.

12 miles of this felt like 20 miles.

I actually pulled over and asked an official where the finish was as I felt like I was starting another lap.

Nearly 30 riders line up on row 2.

The Race

I got the bike down to the start line early but 25 riders already beat me there,

I lined the bike up in the worst line to the first turn possible and just hoped I would get out first.

I got a really bad start, I was nearly last off the line starting my bike on the third kick.

I caught and passed some riders down the long straight but got stuck in the first bottleneck going into the woods.

2 miles into the first lap I hit the back of another rider and damaged my front rotor, I tried to straighten it out but it was too warped.

I managed to do another 2 laps but timed out on the 3rd lap and ended up in 9th place as only 2 laps counted.

On the last lap I hit a thick tree branch and had some pain in my arm so I just cruised home and finished my 3 laps.

Body language tells the story....

Glad to finish this one in one piece.....

This happened on lap 3.....

Results tell the story.

Once again the organizers put on a good show, shame I can`t do the same.

I just need to get better starts and move on.
